Need new non skid deck
 

Any thoughts on the best product to use in refinishing my deck? It's like a skating rink right now.

I'm also wondering what i'm going to use,although thats a while away,as i'm still ripping the rotted wood out of the transom.
My buddy just did the deck of his lobster boat with gel coat thickened with Cabosil.It came out looking great,almost factory like and is a pretty good non slip surface.
He rolled it on,and as it was applied, the action of the roller left little peaks that settled just a bit,leaving a nice rough finish.
I also was thinking of using either Durabak,or Sani-Tred.I got some samples of each,and the finish on them is super.
They are both urethane coatings,similar to the spray on bed liners,although they have a much better non slip,as you mix granulated rubber particles in with the coating.
They each come in several colors.The Sanitred seems to be much heavier,and is a softer coating.It is also pretty expensive,and has a catalyst and activator that has to be added.
Looks like three steps with at least two or three seperate coatings and cost maybe around $300.00 or more,for a 23 footer.
The durabak is cheaper and is a single part product, with the rubber granules already in it.Cost is about $80.00 per gallon.It would probably cost about $150.00 for a 23 footer.
Maybe someone who has used one of these can give us more information either good or bad about these products.

Bobby Wartman (warthog5) has used the durabak with mixed results I'm curious myself to know the final verdict on that stuff. I think they were mixing paint with it also.

I've heard there was some issues with the Durabak, but those have since been solved. Bobby's boat came out really nice and I ordered some Durabak to sample it, but it did not have the finish I was looking for so I opted for Awlgrip and Griptex for more of an OEM finish. The sand mix also seems to take a better hold for footing without bothering bare feet.

I used Interlux Intergrip 2398C in combination with Petit Easypoxy 3108 off- white. Rolled it on-The easypoxy matches the seacraft off-white very closely. The intergrip is awesome and i have been putting it to the test in the last month with everything from eel and fish slime to crab guts menhaden oil and blood and guts.Your ass wont slip, believe me. A little tough to clean but really no big deal. (I just need a stiffer brush).

Have had very good luck with Interdeck from Interlux (one part poly). I plan on using it on the 20' topsides after the hull/cap joint work is all done. I used Duraback on a workboat 3-4 years ago. It is a thick coating of ruberized non-skid if thats what you want. I will not be using it again but I bet its still on that old Novi :)

Has anyone looked at Sea-Dek, great stuff, soft, non skid and apparently a very easy clean, install is not hard either seen multiple DIY jobs.

Tape was pulled up before full cure of the paint, otherwise it will entrap the tape and cause it to tear. The base is Awlgrip 545 with a layer of color, followed with "salt shaking" the Griptex, followed with 4 layers of Awlgrip over it to provide enough material so that it would provide a good wear resistance.
