Bracket science....long with a lot of photos
 

Since I'm spending so much time looking at bracket designs I though I'd post some photos I took at the local boat show this past weekend. I though it would be worthwhile to get shots of brackets and transom extensions on as many boats as I could. It's interesting that so many have transom extensions that are basically like glassed on brackets. I mainly wanted to get the relationship between the bracket or extension and the hull bottom the anti-ventilation plate.

First up are the Scout Abacos. They have a central transom extension with bolt on "wings" on either side. Short set back on these...

Nice shots and detail of different bracket systems......Are you thinking of buildng a more integrated glass bracket to the boat than what has been done here on CSC??

Snookered....see another thread....I took the outline from the hull of a Tsunami and I'm trying to figure out the flotation tub design to build a bracket ala Strick or Bigshrimpin. I plan on twin 140 zukes and want max flotation.

If the armstrong can support twin 250's then you should be fine using the same dimensions on your boat.

Don't try to overly complicate the process . . . I'm guilty of this . . . Make it easy on yourself (keep it simple . . . K.I.S.S.) and get'er DONE!!

I hear you there Big.....I do it all the time. But then that fella Murphy just is always beating my a$$. How's your bracket coming along??

Strick sanded it for me last week and faired out some rough spots (what a nice guy!). I got one stringer glued in yesterday and ground down the other b/c of a sloppy tabbing job. I'm building the mold for the swim platform now. We'll see . . . I hope to have it bolted to the back of the boat by March 1 with a motor hanging.

1bayouboy-Gotcha on the other thread, I thought you were heading in Strick's & Big's bracket direction. Strick clearly needs a little imagination on his projects...... :D

It will look much like their brackets....I'm going to go from 21 degree to 13 degree like the hull bottom to get more flotation, and I'm going to be wider...something like
52 inches....and I may let the bottom rise up an inch from front to back.

The lip on the back of the Foutain bracket performs as a minimal leveling tab I guess. That is an add-on I have not seen or considered.
