Rug Replacement

I own a 1986 Seacraft Master Angler. It has rugs under both gunnels. I would like to replace them with something else. Anyone have any ideas?

Seadek is the way to go. Many skiff makers use them under gunnels. I'm a little biased though b/c I work for them. If you have any questions ask away. It really is a great product with great service.

I replaced mine with carpet from Lowes using waterproof outdoor carpet adhesive.

Thank you for the tip on seadek. I emailed the company for a sample to see if it would work. My only concern is the surface under the rug. I don't think it's a flat even surface. Would this affect how the product would sit?

I have the same setup on my boat. I wanted to get rid of the rugs. They are getting moldy and starting to rip. Besides the teak wood is a pain. Yours came out very nice. I might try it. Can you tell me what that strip above your rod holders is made of. Mine is teak wood and I would like to replace it.

The rod holders in the pic had not been redone yet. I stripped the varnish, oiled them and replaced the bungies.

The aluminum is simply Taco marine trim

I installed it under the gunnels on a hewes redfisher that had the same setup. All you have to do is remove the old carpet and lightly sand off any remaining glue or residue left behind, then wipe clean with some acetone. After that it will bend or curve and adhere easily.

Seadek would work for that, I've seen a sample and it would be an easy install if you want to use it.
