Insurance Quote - How does it compare???
My old 23' 1978 SeaCraft had a replacement value of $15k. The policy cost about $525.
I just got a price estimate of $930 for my new old SeaCraft. The replacement value on this one is $28,500. Also, I gave my insurance company a copy of the survey. They feel that this may help lower the rate a little. How does the above annual rate compare with everyone else out there? Peter |

Mine's about $38/1000 value, yours $30/1000. Mine is Charter Lakes. What company did you choose??

Re: Insurance Quote - How does it compare???
American Marine Underwriters
Also, I had AMU give me a quote in early Januray on a 24 foot Albemarle w/twin 250's. The boat was a 1996. The quote was for $520 for a $30k boat. Seems like the older SeaCraft is being taxed extra hard. We will see. |
Re: Insurance Quote - How does it compare???
Peter- I pay $600 with Allstate for a 2000 21SC- the values on the policy are $25k on the hull and $15k for engine with some additional insurance on anything on the boat for about $5k- its remained at $600 since I bought boat new in 2001

Re: Insurance Quote - How does it compare???
I pay $328.92 for $12K agreed value on my '72 20' Seafari, ($27.41 per $1000), and I pay $256.80 for $10K value on my '94 17' Carolina Skiff ($25.68 per $1000). I did pay $402.20 for my 23' '74 Tsunami at $15K agreed value ($26.81 per $1000). I noticed that the older the boat the higher the rate.
All are insured through State Farm, as additions (not riders) on my multi-vehicle policy, which also has 1 2005 Scion, 1 2002 F250 pickup, 1 1977 Suzuki motorcycle, and 1 2005 travel trailer. And with the exception of the MC, all have full replacement coverage. |
Re: Insurance Quote - How does it compare???
Allstate. 36 year old boat. $890/yr on $38K value (survey required stating current value).
