Was the boat damaged during Katrina?

Ogaff - I'm pretty sure it did not sustain any damage from Katrina. I looked at the boat a while back..

Re: 1989 20 CC, 2001 Evinude 150, Trailer $12,500
Can anyone give me some opinions on this boat? I'm looking for my first boat and I checked this one out last week.
The yellow paint is relatively new (within the last few years). Its seafoam green underneath, and there are a number of spots where the yellow has chipped or been gouged, etc. The trailer needs some work (new cross member & 4 tires) and possibly new lights. There are some spider cracks throughout but nothing major or anything to cause concern. The t-top and console are solid, although most of the screws holding the console in place were loose. It probably needs to be rewired & new batteries, and the switches replaced. The thing that bothers me about this boat and motor, is apparently its been sunk not once but twice. Not sure if it was by the current owner (who's had it about 2 years) or previous or both. This was not disclosed to me from the seller, but rather from the dealer who serviced it after each time. The dealer did say that the boat was brought to them immediately after it happened both times and the motor was checked out, cleaned, etc. right away. I'm not sure what the circumstances were surrounding the sinkings, but I thought these boats were self-bailing. Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm going to ask him to take it to the dealer to have the motor checked again, but should I request a survey as well? Or at least have the transom checked? Since its my first boat, I'm not really looking for a project. I'm mechanically inclined so small odd jobs are fine, but I'm not ready to start tearing it down adn rebuilding. Any thoughts or advice are welcomed. You can PM me if you'd rather not post here. Thanks Sawyer |

It is self bailing.
However, if the boat gets pinned in funny at a dock water can go over the notched transom and the bilge pump is going to stop working after a while. When this happens, look out. Net/net, it is possible to sink a SeaCraft (I should know, having sunk one last fall) :( |
