Question on potter hull

I am in the process of buying a 1978 sea craft. I did a background report on the boat. Report said that the manufacturer was Sam Ervin Custom boats- Or Sea Craft (OOB). Can any one shine some light on this for me.

Re: Question on potter hull

Here is my guess

SEC = SeaCraft
M0 = Master Angler????
381 = Hull Number
1078 = October, 1978

Hey, wouldn't this make it a 1979 hull?

Re: Question on potter hull

Yes i think it is a 1979, but the report i had done by used boat history.com said it was a 1978.. I am confused??? I just wanted to make sure it was a Potter hull. Mabe the boat history people got it wrong.. I read in the intrduction of this web site that all sea craft bult from 1969 to 1979 were potter hulls.

Re: Question on potter hull

The last four digits (1078) means that the boat was built or started in october of 78. The boat probably wasn't sold until sometime in 1979 in which case the title may say 1979.

Re: Question on potter hull

Will and Peter are correct. Potter Hulls 1969 thru May 1980

SEC = Secraft
M = Master Angler
0 = 20'
038 = Hull Number
10 = October
78 = 1978

Any hull manfactured after August is titled the following year ;)
