Hull Deck Joint

Since I have the rubrail off to paint the hull and deck on my 1985 Sceptre and was wondering if I should take the opportunity to put some additional rivets or bolts in the joint.

There are no indications of any problem other than some creaking when running in a chop. It looks like it is mainly fastened with screws and a rock-hard brown putty of some sort.

Just because I have the rail off, I was wondering if driving a rivet every 12 inches or so would be worthwhile. If so, any advice on size and material - aluminum or stainless? Source to buy?

Thanks.

Re: Hull Deck Joint

If anything I would try and through bolt wherever I could. When I poped the topcap off my 20 MA I reattached it by a combination of 5200 in the seam between the deck and hull, through bolts and the top was also glassed to the hull from the inside. My goal was to make sure the hull is as solid as possible....I guess only a seatrial will tell.
