Yet another awlgrip question
 

Im about to awlgrip my topsides: gunwhales, cockpit walls, floor etc. The prior owner painted with one part paint - I think. So that means I need to sand it real good, fill and fair damage, then use the 545 primer.

Anyone have any tips as far as timing,reducing, cleaning, sanding procedures. I will be rolling and tipping. I did a 13 Whaler recently and got good results but I want to take extra care with the Seacraft.

Offwhite inside and gunwhales, cream decks, royal blue hull will be last. I know I need the weather to break and heaters, good respirator, etc.

If it was mine I would strip it back to the gellcoat.

The topcoat is only as good as what's under it for adhesion and color holdout.

The 545 needs no reducer. It's thin enough when Part A&B are mixed together to spray. [2.0 tip in the gun]

Finish sand the primer with 400gt wet/dry by hand or 220gt with a DA sander.

I was intending to brush - it says you can on the can? Oh s$#t! Can I use two part interlux primer instead. I dont have spray capability.
