23 sceptre windshield glass replacing

I have a 73 Tsunami i am restoring and i want to replace the glass, it does not have the tinted glass it has the clear plexi glass that is all scratched. I would like to replace it with the tinted. Any recommendations from anyone who has done this before?

How urgent do you need it? I'm likely replacing my windshield. I'll know by the end of next week. If you could wait until end of June you could have the glass out of that for the cost of shipping. FYI, the piece in front of the helm is broken so you'd still need that one. I have no idea how to go about shipping glass and what it would cost. My glass isn't tinted. If you're interested let me know. These guys may be worth talking to as well. They were supposedly the OEM. http://www.americanmarine.com/

Thanks for the feedback i will check American out next week. I was working on the boat today and found a little hole on top of the fuel tank right at the main fill, i believe it is a 57 gal. Should i fix this one or replace it. Have you had any prob like this with your 73 Tsumani.

Re: 23 sceptre windshield glass replacing

I re-did all the glass and seals on my '75, 23' Tsunami. I took the old plexi pcs to my local glass guy - he used them as templates and ordered tempered glass for them. Worked out great ! For the two sides, and the one center pc, it was like $350 - worth every penny.

Talk to Mike @ American Marine ( the OEM for SC window parts ). I'd switch out those sh*tty plastic, window turns/hold-downs for the newer, heavy-duty handles. I did this and have posted my happiness w/ this retrofit.

Also, order the GE silicone that American uses to rebed the glass - it's hard to find anywhere and it is the stuff you want to use ( they use it for their own installs ).

Lastly, they sell the OEM replacement seals for all the windows - buy 'em ! The hardest part is figuring out how to make the perfect angles at each corner ( but it's totally do-able )

Now's the time to do it right. Good luck.

Window rubber seals

Where did you find the rubber seals to go around the new glass? I have a 73 23' Just like yours. I just put all new glass in and can't find where to get the new seal.

I believe it takes the TP-139, but you may want to measure it to be sure.
