Re: My 20 SeaCraft after 6 months work

The boat got a new 25 inch transome with extra gussets for support, a new fiberglass leaning post made by me out of a formica mold custome, I raised the console to be able to mount new chartplotters, new 60 gal tank , new 15 gal freshwater wash down, the front compartment on the console (seat) was turned into a cooler with 2 inch foam sheets, new Awlgrip inside out including in the hatches, new rub rail, basicaly all new except an old 1973 Seacraft and a 2001 trailer , and if you dont know its a pain in the !!! to put pictures up on the forum. I hope my pictures and ideas will inspire someone else to restore a Seacraft. Jose

Nice, looks like quite a productive six months. With that high console you will definitely be able to dodge any spray while flying through rough seas!! What power are you planning for her?

Its a split decision between merc. or yamaha 225 or 250 hp no less, not that i need to race its the fuel economy you get from big displacement outboards on little boats, I run engines about 3500 - 4000 rpms and I want a 40 mph cruise

in that case I hope you raised the height of the original floor a good bit.

BTW, let us know if you'd recommend your cushion fabricator(presuming they're local). The wife is threatening boycott if the comfort factor does not improve soon!

Thanks!

Can you say rocketship? Better get Yeager to test pilot that one. :D

Nice boat, looks sharp. Interesting console.

glassman,
I have 225 EFI Merc 20" shaft on my 73 20' and it is far more than enough. In cool weather and good water im at 69 mph with 2 guys and 3/4 full fuel. Word to the wise it will start to walk on it chines, be careful. But you can win some races that is for sure!!
