Aluminum fuel tank problems \"\"\"\"\"\"\"HELP\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"

Hello I have 73 Tsunami, Do i have to worry about any corrosion inside the tank that would clog my injectors? Do these aluminum tanks have problems inside, because the outside in not that bad.

Thanks Mike

Ha Mike

There should not be any problem with corrosion from the inside of the tank. Gas and aluminum have been quite friendly for a very long time. The only problems would be decaying rubber from the sending unit, water in the tank, and debris from filling the tank. If you change out the gas water separator that should do it for you. I always pore the contents of the old gas water separator in a glass jar just to see what is in there.

If the tank is empty or close you can take off the sending unit and look inside. I did this to mine today. Mine is full of rust on the inside but looks ok on the outside. Be careful about trusting the inside is fine just because the outside looks good. I am now looking for a new tank.
