Transom

I have a 78 18 SF undergoing a transomecktomy. Replacing plywood with a polyester composite and will raise the transom to 25". Am considering adding a flotation bracket primarily to spread the load. Has anyone done this?

Re: Transom

Welcome keyscruz to CSC!

From what i've seen, transom brackets are much more common on 23's and larger than on the smaller SeaCrafts. I've seen a few 20's but frankly never on an 18. Some have the opinion that a bracket can negatively effect the ride of a smaller boat. Also, extending engine weight further off the transom might be a concern, especially with the lower gunnels of the smaller boats....Just my 2 humble cents, I'm sure other opinions are out there. Best of luck with the patient!

Where do you fish? I'm down out of Lower Matecumbe every now and then
