sanding around corners question
 

Anyone have any good tricks to sand corners and other tight areas. I will hopefully be painting the boat soon and need to finish up removing an old crappy paint job from the interior. Also, any good ideas on how to sand the recessed lines between the nonskid on the floor. I will be using the random orbital on the floor but will some how have to get those recessed lines in between. Thanks -will

I just painted mine and had to remove a crappy one part paint job before I could awlgrip. As far as corners use a block sander lightly then floow up by hand or with a sponge.

For the deck, I used a block sander then I use a "rip" of wood about the thickness of the stripes in the deck. I taped or held a piece of sandpaper wrapped around the wood and pushed it along. I then ordered online (hard to find) 3M sandpaper that was I believe 1/2 inch and taped all the stripes to avoid getting non skid on the stripes. It was a nice touch.

Anything you could wrap a piece of sand paper around. PVC pipe, block of wood, Make your own contours, anything. You can buy sanding block kits but it is easy to make your own out of scrap wood. I don't remember if it was this site or another but someone attached a piece of PVC pipe to and air powered boad sander to get into the contours. Great Idea!!

A piece of straight radiator hose works very well. Wipe it down with laq thinner first to clean it. Then use stick-it paper on it. It will conform to many radius's.

Been using that since the '70's.
