first fishing trip of the year

First FISHING trip of the year.
I take my brother in law.
My boat, my spot, my pole, his fish 48" 45 lbs.
We stay out too late so I get no brownie points with wife.
Go figure

that is a shame you kept that fish, in a few years when the stocks colapse and people wonder where all the fish went, they should look back on all of the big breeders that were kept.

amazing that some people celebrate nature by killing it...kinda ironic huh

I know absolutely nothing about what Stripe Bass regulations are up north, but if it was a legal fish in the state that governs this species, God bless Stoney for the catch!!!!
We have enough dad gum laws already. Hook and line fishermen
could never wipe out a species alone! Maybe your just jealous?

Hey Komodi in case you did not notice this is the fishing section of the board. Maybe you made a mistake and thought you were on the photography section of Audubon. Here is a web site more suited for you http://basketweaving.com/ This site has a group of guys that like to go fishing and sometimes eat their catch. I guess you never ate nothing that was at one point living and breathing. If so more power to you. Over here in California we have lots of you guys. They get pissed even when we release a fish because we are holding it for a quick picture. Poor fish is getting stressed they say. How many 40 pounders have you caught? Thats what I thought. Stony broke no laws and did nothing unethical so shame on you for raining on his parade. Please keep your dim witted, uneducated, juvenile views to your self.....JERK.

Re: first fishing trip of the year

Stoney went fishing and caught a beauty of a bass!!!

He did not go out killing(nets go out killing), he went fishing. This ~18 year old bass had a choice, swim away or take the bait and rub out the line another time.

After 18 years this bass got careless/suicidal/out-of-luck or Stoney crew out smarted him.

I applaud Stoney crew and the bass!!!

btw; Looks like KMODI is still pissed that you came in late ... :D :D

Stoney - +++ Gorgeous Fish +++

and, Kmodi - some facts -

a - that fish was a perfectly legal keeper
b - recreational fishing is NOT hurting the stock
c - if you want to legitimately gripe at something, aim it at the large scale commercial herring fishing - where they sweep the sea with nets, with mesh size small enough to catch the herring, and sweep up Tons of larger "by-catch", cod and stripers included - which, because they're not liscenced for, they pitch overboard - DEAD

I've seen the pictures, on other websites, of miles long streams of dead stripers, pitched over "by-catch", from the herring boats.... but all the lobstermen love to have herring for their trap baits, so there's a big and constant market for it, growing in size with exporting herring as food to other countries.

If you want to hit a target - try aiming at the right target, first!!!

rant over... :( :D

Strick - he might want to try www.PETA.org instead of the basket-weaving site... ;)
