Rub Rail Help
 

Apparently caught a dock with teh rub rail and pull a screw through it and pulled a couple out a little. This I think is the original type-black with an insert that fits over the screws, can I just pry the insert out put the screws back in and get the insert back in correctly-sure seem like a tight fit. If you need a pic I can do that.

You can pull out some more of the insert to give you better screw access. If the screws were pulled out of the fiberglass cap and the holes are walloed, you can put in a plastic drywall screw molly or drill new holes either side of the original holes. If you are "re-using" the original holes in the rubrail, I would put the screws back in with a small SS washer to keep them from pulling through down the road if you take another shot. Finally, you can then tap the insert back in with a rubber mallet ;)

They didn't pull all the way out I should be able to put some expoxy on them, 1 pulled through the hole in the rub rail. I was just worried about pulling the insert out and not have it go back very well, thx I now have confidence.

I have had to do that before. You might want to park the boat in the sun, and get the rub rail nice and hot, so it's more pliable when trying to put the insert in. Hair dryer works too.

I think I did many years ago on the 18, the sun sounds like a good idea, its doesn't appear very pliable

I found that laying the rubrail on hot black asphalt for about 2 hours makes it real easy to work with.
Also just 5200 the old holes then re-drill new ones.
Nobody but you will know they are there.

Its so small I will try it with the sun and a hair dryer with a good dose of hammer, I'll if I need help though.

This is really an easy chore. I pulled the whole rub rail off of mine and tightned all of the screws. Do one side at a tine(top then bottom) I used the backside of a screwdriver. You'll get it.
