Last Day of Snook Season in Florida
 

Snook season closes today, so the logical thing to do was go snook fishing last night. Heres some fish me and a buddy caught at his favotite bridge last night :

Oh yea!S.S.H.R. Wouldn't even had to show me a picture of the building.Pulled some nice reds and a few flounder from under there also :DAll the docks in that area hold nice fish. If thats the rod you used to to get him you were darn lucky. If anyone wants to know the secret pm me and we'll set up a trip. Spring migrations a good time.

The pic is a little deceiving, that is not a rod in the background. I used a custom 8ft Sage spinning rod with a Ru 401 with 25lb test. A close friend's parents owned a
condo in the South Tower from when they were built.
They never used it, but you can bet we did. Coming over as
much as twice a month..
Before they built the pier we would catch them off the beach
on the old cattle barge..
As far as a trophy (when you could keep one) 34lbs was the
top. Can you say "Lady Fish" ;)
Fishing on the pier requires you to be a quest or owner.
Security would always try to chase us off. But we had the last laugh when we showed them our pass keys! :D
Truly one of the top 5 spots in the state. You should consider coming over for the Long Point Gathering. We have some tough Snook on this side. The current at Sebastian runs
about 12 knots on an average outgoing. We drift the inlet
bouncing our home made jigs on the bottom..

I see thats a telephone cable. Thought it looked a little flimsey. Cattle barge :rolleyes: That was a while ago. Rumor has it that when they imploded the drawbridge abutments last month, it killed a 50lber. Seen some world records under the old Caloosahatchee railroad tressel. No way you could pull em out though. Needlefish are great also. Dont think they eat them, just like to kill them. Seen snook just swimming with them in their mouths for no apparent reason. Thats what we used last night. SeaCraft gatherings are on the to do list. I know it has to be a great time. Works slow right now, moneys tight and fuels expensive. Last nights trip only cost about 10 bucks. That was on the S.R. 80 power plant outflow canal bridge by the way :D

I always wanted to stop and pound the concrete on that SR 80 bridge, but never have.. Thats the way we would come from Daytona, I-4 to 27 to 29 to 80 to I-75. Best time 4 hours flat to the Sonesta, yeah we were a fuzz over the speed limit. :eek:

Its better when our water drops below 65. That out flow stays about 80. Anything that wants to stay warm goes there. The bridge is the only real structure with lighting. Warm water + structure + good shadow lines = snook magnet and 200* river tarpon!
