lppking for 23 seacraft
Hi guys. I am looking for a 23 cc. I have never owned a seacraft, but have admired them for years. I will be looking at a 1989 23 suerfisherman this weekwend. It has a 200 commercial evinrude. How does this ride compared to the older 23 cc's? and is the 200 enough power?

Re: lppking for 23 seacraft
I have a 1973 23 SF with a 200 Yamaha.
I'm satisfied with the 40 Mph top end, 30 mph cruise at 4000rpm and 3.4 mpg on the navman 3100. At 30 mph it rides great. Faster than that in any boat my back cannot take due to disc issues . I had a 225 Evinrude ocean pro (it came with the boat) that I thought would last a few years but they are historically good for about 700 hrs and then they throw a rod like mine did. Have a mechanic look the motor over closely. |
Re: lppking for 23 seacraft
Alot of this depends on how much weight you have in the boat, and how big of a top you have. Also, having it propped correctly can make a big difference.
If you have 4 guys who carry a lot of gear, 80 pounds of ice, a full livewell and a big top, 200 is probably a little small, and 250 would be optimal. Also, remember a 250 doesn't have to work as hard, so you might have a shorter life with a motor that is borderlined. |

Spencer,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Where is your seacraft located? Can you give me more info? Beachbum2b |
