89 seacraft -- looking for dry weight

Hey guys,

I am looking at a 1989 23 superfisherman. 2 Questions. Anyone ever heard of an Evinrude overbuilt commercial, and does anyone know the dry weight of a 1989 23 cc superfisherman? The boat os in great shape, buy I have never heard of a commercial motor.

At one point in time, Evinrude made a 185 hp that was considered commercial. They were usually not a normal rated hp as you expect in regular use.

I think those "commercial" motors don't have the Oil Injection and I think they had a different cylinder head which allowed them to run on low octane fuel. That's what makes them so Tough ;)

Yamaha commerical motors "C" didn't have oil injection either . . . at least back them.

Commercial is just a marketing gimic . . . so they could sell the motors w/o a standard warranty, w/o oil injection, and with a Tough Paint Job :)

I`ve seen older OMC "seadrive" comm motors. They had an integrated factory bracket type of mount . Does this sound familiar. I`m just a pilgrim, not an expert. My tech says it`s fine to run 87 octane. I run a `96 ocean pro 150 coverted to pre mix 50-1.

As for the weight , I`m VERY curious too. George at G&S says the lay up of the older Potter/ CSC/CSY hulls are much heavier, but the factory specs list my `89 tracker 20sf hull as 1600 like the older ones. George pulls em apart so he`s probably laughing right now.His business card does say boat phd, and he has an A&P ticket too.

My 1989 23WA is listed as net hull weight of 3040 lbs. I have no idea how much the cap weighs.

I have the top cap off of a 23 Sceptre, I have not weighed it but I did weigh the boat and it weighed at about 3000lbs. I would bet the top cap weighs less that 1000lbs easily. The heaviest portion is the stern with the enormous bait/engine well. When I lift it, I have t rig heavy off of that end.
