raising the deck

What is the main reason for raising the deck 2-3 inches. Is it soley for raising the scuppers to get better drainage. Also does anyone know the original height of the stingers.
thanks

Re: raising the deck

The scuppers are usually below the waterline and without the rabud scuppers the boat will take in water. any water you dump on the deck with not drain.

Re: raising the deck

I had my deck raised several inches by Young Brothers in Southern NJ.

It does make a difference. The scuppers now go through the transom and I don't get too much backwash (even with twin 200's and a couple of fat fisherman in the boat).
