Intro & Question

Hi, my name is Dave, I'm new to this board. I don't have a classic Seacraft, but do have a newer one that I was hoping I could get some help with. Mine is a '99 23CC with a 225 Optimax. The prop is an Offshore four blade with a 19 pitch. I am only able to get the RPM's to around 5000-5100 and would like to get closer to the max of 5700. Any suggestions from people with a similar setup would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Dave

Re: Intro & Question

Dave, you need a 17 inch pitch Mirage three blade stainless prop. I believe most guys with a 225 opti on a 23 sea craft use this prop. There have been numerouse threads on this subject so you may want to do some research on this website. I have a 225 opti on mine and that is what I use. I am not 100% sure but I believe the diameter is 15 1/2. At any rate, I would consider switching to the mirage. I max out at about 5700 rpms. good luck

Re: Intro & Question

Thanks for the reply SteveH. When I enter my numbers into the Mercury prop selector, it gives a number of choices from 15-17 pitch. I wanted to get some input from other Seacraft owners before I make a decision. Thanks again.

Re: Intro & Question

Make sure it's a Mirage Plus, not just a Mirage, you can pick one up on e-bay pretty cheap...under $200 for sure.

Re: Intro & Question

mine is actually a "mirage plus." I have other props of various sizes and have found that this is the best prop for the 225 opti in my opinion.

Re: Intro & Question

Has anyone tried the Enertia prop on this setup? I talked to Ken at PropGods and he raved about this new prop, but he has no experience with a Seacraft.

Re: Intro & Question

The merc offshore prop is not good match for seacrafts . . . Vensura/Offshore are bow lifting props . . . Mirage Plus or Rev 4 are the merc props you want to look for.

Re: Intro & Question

Thanks again for the responses. GFS thanks for the offer, I am in Maryland and won't be able to make a trip to FL. Had to figure out what Long Point was, sounds like a good time. Maybe a future gathering.
