Check out this link to give you a basic idea.
http://www.outboardmotor.net/ My 83 115hp Merc I-6 weighs about 275 lbs new 2 strokes are close 100- 140 lbs more. v6 225 OP probably close to 500 where a new 2 stroke 150 may be 420-450 or so ... |
Re: engine weight
My 2008 Etec 115 weighs about 375. I added a leg extension kit to a 20" to make it 25". I heard they are comming out with a 130.. probably the same weight and block etc..

Re: engine weight
Nada.com list the weight of all motors.
That evinrude Oceanpro 225 is one heavy heavy motor. I know that NADA says only 453 . . . after moving 2 around my garage for a few months (and parting one out) . . . I'd be willing to bet big money that number is a very light estimate. Mid w/o trim and tilt was 175lbs of scrap aluminum ;) Lower unit was 82lbs to ship, Trim and Tilt was 30lbs to ship, Cowling is heavy, Powerhead had to be close to 200 with flywheel. I'd be willing to bet 225 oceanpros are over 500lbs if someone hung it on a scale. They are close to the size and displacement of 250 yamaha or a 3.0L Mercurys. After pushing those motor around . . . my little merc blackmax's felt like toys. |
