Trailer for 20 ft Seafari
 

Can anyone recommend a good trailer for my 1972 20ft Seafari? I think the current trailer has finally had it.

If you want a roller trailer, which I prefer because you can launch on almost any kind of ramp, it's hard to beat the single axle EZ loader 6M, 3100 lb capacity, or 3500# w/ 16.5" dia rims.

Have had this one for over 20 years; only thing that gets wet are the tires and maybe the center of rear cross member, so that eliminates a lot of problems, and allows use of BIG drum brakes for lots of swept area and stopping power. I have removed the side rollers since this picture was taken. The outer rollers run right along the outside vertical step and center the boat perfectly every time. Easy to load and unload if you use a power winch. It is a heavy trailer though, at about 900 lbs; I believe the aluminum float-on types are about 500#. The black OEM rollers will leave black marks on the hull, so I'd negotiate with dealer to install the new style yellow poly rollers which don't leave marks before I bought one however.

Aluminum Float on style is just so fricken easy its scary - mine is a Fast Load made down here in Plant City Fl- another great trailer is Owens and Sons in St Pete, not sure if they have dealers that far. Best style trailer I ever owned, hell Danny (Snooknerd) could even load a boat on one.

i have a tandem axel aluminum float on trailer. i just put some forward center bunks on it. that made it even easier to load the boat on the trailer. if i can load it and unload it with my girl friend i think anyone can do it. i think roller trailers will take longer to load at a crowded ramp. but i might be wrong.

i would say buy a roller trailer for new England ramps as you know they can suck get as many rollers as possible to support the boat and make loading and unloading easier also make sure the trailer is self centering ( no roller to hit in the middle) i have had two 5star trailers and love them get disc brakes and if possible torsion axles the ride is super smooooth most new trailers are poly rollers

Rollers with an electric winch is the most versatile, and you can use any ramp, while drive-on aluminum frame is the easiest loading, but may reduce the number of ramps available for your use.

Yes. I use a 5Star roller trailer with my Seafari. I have the torsion single axle model, 3000lb capacity. For some reason my torsion axle seems to be noisier than other report, but that is my only complaint. I never power load, always winch on, and can easily load and unload single handed. It does not perfectly level the boat, but I am not super fussy about that, as I frequently launch from a ramp on a river with 90 degree current to the ramp.
