Newbie, Sceptre front deck acces
I'm about to purchase a 1981 sceptre and am concerned about front deck access. Access is through the folding front windsheild but there is no easy way out. Has anyone built a ladder or other system to make front access (anchoring and tying dock lines) easier? Bow deck seems small to install a hatch big enough to crawl through? Also any advice on installing a windlass? This is a great site and I can't wait to become a Seacraft owner.

Re: Newbie, Sceptre front deck acces
Greetings Tunacious,
Good luck with the new purchase, and welcome aboard. The Sceptre/Tsunami originally came with a folding plastic ladder (folded into a flattened parallelogram) here is a recent thread on the matter. http://www.classicseacraft.com/forum...r=60331&Forum=,,,All_Forums,,,&Words=sceptre%20ladder&Searchpage =3&Limit=25&Main=50274&Search=true&where=bodysub&N ame=&daterange=1&newerval=6&newertype=m&olderval=1 &oldertype=m&bodyprev=#Post60331 More pics may be found on the Literature section of the site in some of the brochures. Personally, I would make a new variation on these and keep you fore-deck intact for a small windlass and aesthetic reasons (say an occasional hottie in bikini) :D Good luck. |

The ladder made it easy and was one slick piece, mine broke and then its a bit of a jump you need a little ladder then its easy.

Re: Newbie, Sceptre front deck acces
Welcome,
you'll get lots of good info and help from the members of this site,i sure have. I bought one of the little fold up plastic step stools from an RV store. It works great(at least in my driveway). They're cheap, extremely strong, and fold up flat. They come in a couple of sizes, and make getting on the bow deck easy. It takes up very little space when folded.Boaters World, and Worst Marine also carry them. |
