SeaCrafts in strange places
 

Let's face it. The name of the boat design is SeaCraft. But that's not always where you find them.

I took my Seafari up the Withlacoochee River the other day, and also up into the Rainbow River. Both rivers are fairly shallow, and both have fairly low bridges to pass under, i.e.; less than 7' of clearance. Yet on that trip I encountered no less than 4 other SeaCrafts on these fresh waters - more than any other brand of boat on the rivers that day (except Tracker pontoons), for a total of 5 Seacrafts, and ALL of them running Mercury outboards. Only one of them was a newer era boat, the others were all classic SeaCrafts.
1 2000 21' SeaCraft CC w/ Merc 200 Saltwater series
1 1973 20' CC w/ Merc 100 4 cyl.
1 1976 20' CC w/ mid 80's Merc 200
1 1977 23' CC w/ Merc 250
and my 1972 Seafari w/ Merc 90 Opti.

It was just strange. I have never, ever seen another SeaCraft on the Withlacoochee/Rainbow River upstream of the dam, and suddenly there were 4 of them.

If I find the 15' Skampi, I'll bless it.

If I hear two banjo's playin', I'll get out my wife's shotgun, and open my Book of Common Prayer to the section entitled "Ministration at the Time of Death" on page 462, so as to be ready to give 'em the Last Rites. :D

I saw one in Bimini last week, very distressed looking craft that the locals were working on the motor.

Back in 1993 when we moved up to the 23 and sold our 20 CC, it was bought by a neighbor that had always had his eye on it. He moved to France 2 years later, and took the 20 with him. He lives near Marseilles and fishes that boat in the Med to this day. Viva La SeaCraft! :cool:
