scuppers...bilge or straight overboard?

my port scupper drains through the back of the boat, starboard one drains into the bilge. I do a lot of fishing so I can see that getting pretty grimy in there pretty quickly but I have also heard its safer than having them go overboard. my last boat drained straight over, and there were never any issues. which is better?

Straight out the back. If it drains into the bilge you're relying on a pump thats probably gonna be clogged with all that grime. Use Raybud or Seachoice ball scuppers on the drain tubes.
