Hull ID

Where do I find the hull ID on a Seafarer (about 1972 vintage). It is not located on the transom. I have looked the boat over but can not locate it.

Re: Hull ID

My 70 SF never had one.
More then likely the 72 did not have one.
I believe in 74 is when it was required by law..

See ya, Ken

1972 and 1973 seafari's have a 4 digit HIN number on a sticker under the steering wheel. No stamps in the hull. HIN numbers will generally be state issued unless the state supports 4 digit HIN's on their titles (CA did . . . MA does not).

I have a feeling this maybe prior to a 72. Are there any tell-tale signs as to the year.

Re: Hull ID

Assuming you mean Seafari, my 72's metallic sticker is on port side of cockpit, just below the teak board/shelf, all the way forward, just aft of bulkhead.

Does this mean those Hulls will not have a "BIA Plate" I just pulled a 1973 or maybe a 74 home today. The Serial Number ends with 74.
The owner has sent for a replacment,
Registration and the boat sticker is valid to the end of this month. This is a 20' SF

Re: Hull ID

72 and 73 there are NO serial numbers other than the 4 digit number on the sticker.

Re: Hull ID

et23 - stringers design can date the hull. I believe 1971 and earlier had 4 stringers and 1972 and later had 2 box stringers. I could be off by a year.

sf's rod boxes are a different shape too

Re: Hull ID

My 72 has 4 box stringers, about 2.5" wide on top and maybe 4-5" wide where they meet the hull.

Re: Hull ID

On the 20SF were would the ID tag been. I saw the tag in post above pic at steering helm. I know my CC has been changed and theres no sticker anywhere. can I get a new sticker?
Will not having one cause a issue, Also there no placard for weight or persons etc.
I have owned a few boats and all have had a BIA Placard for weight and persons.

Just trying to dodge a problem before I add water.

I found the weight and specs on this site for my model I downloaded the file for owners manual and will add that to boat doucments. 1973 20' SF Hull ID 233101J374
