Some of the specs shown on the CSC site page for 20CC's do not apply to the 1970 model year. There were no 175 hp outboards then. I believe most of the '70 models were rated for 140 hp, although I have heard rumors of a few with wide transom cutouts that were rated for 240 hp, designed to take up to twin inline 6cyl. Mercs.

My '72 Seafari 20's original sticker beneath the helm shows a max hp rating of 240 hp, and 1480 lbs max capacity, which is different from what later Seafari's had.

My first Seafari was a '69 model and had the wide transom cutout for twin motors.

My 20ft 1970 Potter cc was rated for a 140 hp ob..20 in shaft....The history of my boat is known ,the dealer that sold many 70s SeaCrafts in my area sold them with 80 hp Johnsons on them...There are still many of the org 20s that were sold by this local dealer being used here ,they did not go very far from where they were first purchased ,
In fact there are 4 1970s 20ft Potters within half mile of where I am typing this post..

Hi Joe,
I have a post under performance where I have a dead 200 I bought my 75 20' CC with and I have a 79 90 Johnson from my Brothers boat destroyed in hurricane ( motor never got submerged). Im ready to put it on for the rest of this season ( Flounder run, Bull Reds) You say many 70's sold with 80 HP. So though I may be on the lower end of power requirements, I can still be confident of getting up and going ?
Thanks in advance !
