pop up cleats, drain to bilge??

got sick and tired of cast net catching on cleats in bow, so i yanked them and replaced with a single pop up cleat centered right behind nav light. they are designed w/ two long tube/pipes that house the spring mech. and drain water out the bottom. there are holes in the bottom that let the water filter through. my question: can i attach some sort of tube/fuel line and drape it over the side (inside) of the anchor locker (which goes to bilge i think) or could i just plug them up and rinse thoroughly w/ fresh water after running boat? boat gets washed religiously so this wouldnt be a big deal but im not sure the springs would enjoy sitting in water. or could i just leave it as is and let a little water get in the anchor locker, which is open anyhow? sprayed area with hose and not much water comes through anyhow...boat is an 18 sf if that makes a difference.

224466,I have acon marine popups on my boat, they allow for a hose attachment I would think that all quality popup cleats would have that but dont know for sure. When i had my maverick i sealed the drain tube with silicone. After 2 years they still worked like new I always sprayed corrsion x in the cleat after washing.
