New Member Hunting for Sea Craft
I have been reading these forums nonstop now for months and months. My dream is to build a boat but first I want to rebuild one and you cant beat a Sea Craft. Being young and foolish I bought a used 28' CC with twin 200 2 strokes a few years ago. Although I could afford the boat, I could not afford the gas. So last year I sold it and purchased a skiff. The skiff is just not cutting it.
So...I am beginning the hunt for a 20' CC. I plan on taking it down to the stringers, taking out the liner for more foot room, slightly larger gas tank, closing the transom and putting a bracket on her. All that being said, I am now hunting. I was hoping to be lucky enough to find one of these $400 deals on a SC without power that may have even already been someone elses project. If anyone comes accross one or has one they are willing to part with please let me know. The hunt is on! |
Re: New Member Hunting for Sea Craft
My $400 ebay 20 cc hull is now a $12,000 work in progress (the new motor was $8,000) and I have another $2k to go.

Re: New Member Hunting for Sea Craft
Oh, dont get me wrong, I know it is more than a $400 investment. But the good thing about it is the cost to restore can be spread out over the course of the next year or so. Plus, I just dont feel right paying a premium for a boat that I am going to cut up down to the empty hull.

Re: New Member Hunting for Sea Craft
I am in Raleigh NC, but spent my weekends in Morehead City. I am following the one on ebay. How much would it cost to ship one from Mississippi to Raleigh.

Re: New Member Hunting for Sea Craft
How rare is it to come accross a 21'?
|
Re: New Member Hunting for Sea Craft
Here are the facts; Less than 200 made. A fair amount of that production went to the Military.
As of right now I think my hull is the newest of the bunch. The total known to date is 6. That is including the one being used as an artificial reef in the keys. Maybe Carla can add more information. However finding a 21 may take a day or a very long time. Good Luck. |
Re: New Member Hunting for Sea Craft
Nick a 21 is rare indeed, but there are some out there on the net listed as 21 footers that are really the 20cc If you do find a 21 post it up here im sure someone will want a crack at it
