New Home for 21'
 

After many years of planning, we have finally moved to Key Largo...and it's great!

After Ft. Desoto's gathering, we went by our N. Palm house to pick up the last item ... our 1962 21' Classic SeaCraft.
Being fully loaded with all restoration materials and various other things from the garage (probably more weight than if it was fully restored & with motors), in combination with bad calibers, the little Grand Cherokee Jeep could not pull it without burning up the brakes ... So Denny (Bushwacker) to the rescue! He met us with his truck & we caravan to the keys and brought the 21' to her new home.

I'm soooo envious of you!! I lived down there when I was a kid, and those pics sure take me back to my childhood.

the 21 with the seafari top looks sharp. The lines are about perfect, somehow it also seem to "update" the boat and compliment it at the same time, whoa, I sound like a salesman, I'll stop there.

Congrats on the move to the keys! I will be driving by in 4 weeks, can't wait I love it down there.

Carla...that 21' is going to look great!!! And another congrats on your move..sure looks peaceful. What a way to start your mornings. Carla when you get a chance send me your email and Denny's as well (I accidently deleted all of my folders on my email account). Wanted to send you some pics of baby!Have fun down there and don't work too hard ;)

Wow Carla, What an eventful trip home :eek:. Nothing like knowing you can't stop and also the fact that that grinding sound in the brakes means $$. Of course Denny rides in to save the day.............."Ram Tough"

That deck addition does amazing things to the lines of that Original Classic. It doesn't look out of place, even with the different lines(as you were thinking @ Ft. Desoto). The Keys sunrise photo is much appreciated! Gotta get down there............ :D

I had to do a double take when I saw that second picture. A Seafar on steroids? That's got merit, indeed.

I'm a bit of a preservationist at heart but a firm believer in "adaptation by natural selection." Had Charles Darwin seen this picture, I think he would have pondered for a moment, stroked his beard, rocked back a Guinness checked his notes, and succinctly said, "Brilliant!"

The Seafari concept is interesting. Dilemma of "originality" vs "update for comfort".

I have so much respect for Carl, Skip and Carla, the 21 design, and Carl's amazing accomplishments with it, that it's a PRIVILEGE to be able to do anything I can to help restore that rare old girl to her former glory! It'll be the ultimate Bahama-cruising machine when finished! Just glad I was able to help!

Thankfully the ol' Dodge didn't miss a beat. The little 318 actually didn't even work that hard . . . could hold a steady 50 in OVERDRIVE at about 9-10" vacuum (Max continuous power is about 5", where you start burning exhaust valves on most engines), with the engine and tranny running a cool 195 degrees, averaging almost 13 mpg. Didn't seem to tow much harder than my Seafari . . . until I tried to stop, that is! Rush hour traffic in Ft. Lauderdale was a bear! Fortunately we were able to take back roads most of the way. We put all the camping gear from the Jeep in my truck, and Skip put a lot of lumber from the boat in his Jeep, so that helped a lot. Here's some more photos that show what a unique boat this is.
