LBI Blackfishing, Sunday - Dec 14
Went black fishing at the crack of dawn. Had to break a little ice in the Highbar Harbor canals. The ocean was like a lake at 6:30am. Went about 10 miles south of Barnegat Inlet.
Limited out by about 11:30am. Largest fish was around 10 pounds (see below picture). Green crab was the bait of choice. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...ter10lbtog.jpg Right back home was a little hairy. We had to cut across big tight seas the entire ride back. Peter |

I should of went out today but winterized her instead. :( |

Nice fish. I remember how cold my hands were after about an hour of fileting. I had to hold onto an ice cube just to warm them up!
Blackfish make pretty good ceviche and are spectacular on the grill over a cedar plank. |

We have to get some of you southerners -- Danny, Brian and Mike-- up here for some northeast winter fishing.
Nothing like fishing in below freezing temperatures with the wind howling. |

Nothing like fishing in below freezing temperatures with the wind howling. The other day it got very snotty. When we pulled the anchor we had some 5 foot tight seas to deal with. The guy who went to pull the anchor almost fell over the bow. That would have been a bad situation. |

I'd be wearing a Mustang coverall.
