Saturday Fishing Report
Went out Sat and got one Sail, lost the second one, one mutton snapper we let go, one bonito I used for bait to catch two ok size Golden tilefish.
Picture is of my brother Fred letting my Sail go free. http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...73394_8991.jpg FellowShip Just for the Grins |

Congrats again, Fellow-ship. Very nice. And Merry Christmas.
Why is Santa twisting the fish's nose, Daddy? :D |
Re: Saturday Fishing Report
I remember eating tilefish as a kid. It tasted kinda like cod. Could this be the same fish? Do they eat good?

Hi Briguy;
Here are a few pictures of a Golden tilefish and they are a deep water fish I get them in about 650’ on the bottom and they do taste kind of like Cod. White meat we like them cut up in fingers and fried with bear batter. http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...59040_6530.jpg http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...52285_8183.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...63072_2237.jpg FellowShip Just for the Grins :D |

Re: Saturday Fishing Report
Hi reelescape1;
That’s one of the real advantages of South Florida fishing grounds. I run up and down the coast more then running out to the fishing grounds. 600’ is approx 6 miles from the cut. 1500’ is about 12 miles out. In this picture you can see Miami Beach just behind that boat passing by. http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...77518_5824.jpg FellowShip Just for the Grins :D |
Re: Saturday Fishing Report
I've fished out of Jupiter a number of times and it will spoil you! Here out of Chas. SC 600' is about 50 miles, the 180' ledge starts about 45 miles out. Except for the time it takes it's not too bad at $1.40/gallon :D

At that rate it is time to turn around and come back in by the time you get to the fishing grounds.
