I/O repower question

I bought a nice 75 Sceptre last fall, and I'm looking at pulling the ford 351 (couple years old) and merc alpha 1 drive (almost new) and replacing it with a new Volvo package. Any thoughts on 5.0 vs 5.7 injected? (270 and 280 hp).

i have a mercruiser 350 5.7 mpi with alpha 1. 3200rpms 28mph
wot 4900rpm 38mph... dont know how mpg is but ill tell you cruiseing 3200rpm seems like it does very very very well. no problems starting even when cold. im extremely happy with my setup.
