Restore woodgrain dash
 

My woodgrain dash has faded, and has a hole cut probably from a radio. Does anyone know where I can get one? or material to make one?

I was thinking about using something like an oil on it because when it is wet it doesn't look bad. Has anyone tried something like this? If you have please let me know good or bad, because I don't mind learning from other's.

Is it teak, teak oil would then be an answer - not sure on how to fix the hole LOL

If it is plastic woodgrain, not much you can do. real wood is another matter.

I think I know what it is, kinda a hard plastic and as mentioned not much do with it other than maybe cover it with a vinyl or a teak veneer

I would bet it is simply woodgrain formica. Like they use on tabletops. Find a dealer, pick out a nice grain pattern and build a new dash yourself. I'm not familiar with the dash layout on your boat, but if it is flat, it would be about as complicated as putting a new formica top on your kitchen counter. Only a lot smaller :)

Ya its about an 1/8 thick and its molded in the plastic but the formica is a great idea

I use "Penetrol" on my plastic woodgrain. I apply is once a year and it makes the plastic look like new. I use it on both the mako and sea craft. here is a link i found on google that shows you what it looks like.

I have same issue and tried same solutions. My next attempt to restore will be a coat of clear polyeurathane to seal the dash and add a gloss to it.
