Why can i pump gas fast in my tank? Please help

I have 79 sceptre i just redid over the winter, i took out the original tank and put a barrier coat on it. I replaced all the hoses going to it brand new. I never had a problem pumping gas fast into the tank until i did all this. I replaced the vent hose with a bigger diameter vent hose and it is still hard to pump gas into it. Does anyone know why this was fine before and not now with the same tank and new hoses?????????? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I just went through that today!......you should check the hoses and make sure they are free of any bends, including the release (vent hose). I was very surprise to find out that something so insignificant would give so much trouble.

Good luck.......Rob

I even replaced a brand new vent hose cause i thought the inner diameter was too small, but it still does the same thing. It took me 15 minutes at the gas station to pump 5 gallons the people in back of me want to shoot me.

Check your the hole for the vent hose. I had a brand new one that had a piece of rubber stuck in it. It does not take much of a blockage.

Put your hand over the vent when filling...is there lots of air coming through? if not then your vent has a kink or blockage... if you are getting good flow through the vent then your fill is kinked blocked etc....do a complete inspection of all lines/fittings etc for holes etc.

I had a boat that before I filled her up I would have go to the vend and blow air In to blow gas back into the tank that was getting trapped somewhere in the vent line. If I didn’t I would have the some problem. You probably have something stuck inside or a crimp or something squeezing the hose.

By kink, even just bending around a corner is enough to flatten (and thus restrict) the hose.

When are you going to update your profile picture? No one knows who you are otherwise. the new cabin is sweet.

I found the problem, when i was putting the barrier coat on the tank i put a piece of cloth in the fill tube so i wouldn't have to smell the fumes. I pulled it out but there was still a piece wedged in there, i was able to remove it without getting it in the tank. I hate when that happens :( Thanks you everyone for your suggestions they will still be helpful in the future.

The barrier coat might be what is causing your problem. I used that type of coating and it almost closed a vent tube and made putting fuel in the tank a slow process.

Reading your post brought back bad memories.....
