Fuel tank. Poly or Alum?

need a new tank and found a place in Ft Pierce, Marine Liquidators. Check out their site. Am wondering if a poly tank would be ok if its cheaper. Pros vs.Cons?

I visited Marine Liquidators about a month ago and couldn't find a suitable replacement for a 2' x 5' x 8" aluminum tank out of a 1975 20' CC. What size tank did you replace and what did you replace it with?

CAPTD-
Here is what I was able to find at Marine liquidators without breaking my small budget..poly is working for my application.and didnt have to rip the sole up.next time around I will get aluminum custom built with a totally flat bottom.

Re: Fuel tank. Poly or Alum?

I am in the process of getting a 75 gal aluminum tank made. My old tank was 115 gal- 99 X 28X 10. I could not get it out in one piece, had to cut almost 30 inches off the stern end of the tank and cut 1/2" on each side of the deck hole. I have a thread going on fuel tank replacement/maybe? http://www.classicseacraft.com/forum...b=5&o=&fpart=1
There are links to some pictures on this post.
The new one will be 72 X 27 X 9--75 gal if my math is correct. I have the deck open now so the new one will just slip right in.

maybe someone won't have to drive all the way to FP to go to the Marine Connection...they have no tanks, aluminum or otherwise for 71 I/O safari...FYI
