Sandy Hook Stripers

Took the new SeaCraft out for the first fishing trip this morning down the beach near Sandy Hook, NJ.

Livelined bunker were the ticket for multiple Striped Bass up to 40lbs.

We were back to the barn by 9am. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning.

First fish on the new boat

Thanks! After many years without a 'big' boat it was nice to get back on the outside again and into some nice fish.

I should note that all fish were released to fight another day.

6 hr drive for me but I'm dying to get out there and try my hand at them in the fall, boats up and running.

With the way the fishing is lately, it would almost be worth the drive. It was tough to get bunker because they were very spooky with all the boat traffic. If we had an easier time getting them we probably could have caught a bunch more.

All in all, for the first trip on the new to us boat it was great. I went 6 for 7 I think with no bluefish. Plenty of guys were catching, but it seemed that those of us that were using weight to get the bunker down were having the most success.
