I cant find one? the original place on the back of the transom has been either glassed over or removed. is there anywhere else it would be?

Depends on the year. My 72 had no HIN on the transom, just the 4 digit serial no. on a decal below the helm, almost illegible, and the same 4 digits engraved into the starboard stringer about 1.5" tall, almost completely hidden by foam. I cut about 1" of foam away to fully expose the numbers.

My previous pre-73 SC hull also had the serial no. engraved in the starboard stringer, about 8" forward of the transom.

Even with that the state of FL assigned a full length HIN when I titled the boat (previous title was CT), but as my original serial no. was available, I did not have to engrave it into the transom.

The metallic decal on my Seafari is on port side below the teak board/shelf, just aft of the cabin bulkhead.

Frank,

Did Florida use a "SIC" MFG code or a "FLZ" MFG code when they assigned that HIN to your 73?

FLZ

Thanks. FLZ translates to a "Home made" boat hull. Wish they had used the SIC code.
