Rigging tube position for OB

My transom on my 23 CC is enclosed and outboard mounted. I'm ready to cut the hole for rigging tube but not to sure where to put it. I've looked at alot of boats on the site and they seem to be mounted all over. I have plenty of room but wanted to hear some pros and cons of positions.

Mines higher up on the transom and I think that's the better place. I don't care to have it through the bracket.

Don't know what kind of bracket you have, but if you want a nice clean installation, follow the Don Herman method. He routes the rigging tube down into the bracket and then thru the transom inside the bracket. Makes for a nice clean swim platform with no rigging to step over as you walk across the platform. FredH and I both rigged ours that way and I think it's a lot neater looking than the conventional rigging running across the platform.

i installed mine the other night, stick one end on the motor without any cables,or lines in it and hold the other end on the transom, have someone turn the motor side to side while you try different locations on the transom. keep in mine the bend in the cables plus where they go under the floor. i also keep mine away from the port side so i can mount a boarding ladder later. photobucket homepage

Thanks for the input but I don't think that would work for me. My bracket is a B-Bracket powder coated aluminum it would be some tight bends getting to the motor.

I like your way a little higher to keep it up.

Thanks for the input your boat and bracket are awesome. I am going the same route as yours. I didn't even think of dry fitting the tube first. Pictures helped alot.
