big pine trip

just in from big pine for the mini season here are some pics.

didn't make it 40 miles from home when one of my new hubs let go. took out the fender, tore out a section of the i beam, gouged my newley finished hull and led to this pic of my 18' in the pond at my house while i drove around the next day looking for another trailer

You all did great on finding/catching them.

Not being a jerk here (I'm new to this forum), but keeping the dive flag up all the time is technically illegal, and at best, irresponsible.

From: http://www.dtmag.com/Stories/Dive%20...03-Feature.htm

Quote:

Like California, you can’t fly the flag unless you have divers in the water. “The divers down flag must be lowered once all divers are aboard or ashore. No person may operate any vessel displaying a divers down flag unless the vessel has one or more divers in the water.”
If you violate a dive flag law in Florida, as a diver, you will be subject to a noncriminal infraction, with a fine of up to $50

Looks like a nice haul in any case. We do much the same with the rock outcroppings up here in the NE.

yeah, it was alot of fun. we got 32 bugs in total and probly measured close to that many shorts. we really hope to go back again next year. i never realized how stout those little rascals are when they're back in hole. there were several that we worked on for 15 mins or more...especially in the deeper water :D

check this out. one standard pfd, two white t shirts, and alot zip ties on this beauty.

got all the way out to content key when we realized my dive flag and the gaff it was mounted on were still at the dock...only they weren't at the dock when we got back.

anyhow, the fla. marine patrol rode by and gave us a thumbs up...evidently there are more serious infractions to persue ;) http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...neKey09074.jpg
