shoot thru transducer placement
Has anyone installed a shoot through transducer in a 23 Seacraft Center Console? If so, where did you place the transducer? How did it work out for you? I need to replace my current transducer and I am considering a shoot through.
Thanks, Jeremy |
Re: shoot thru transducer placement
Here's a recent discussion. Search function is funky but give it a go - lot of great stuff on this site. Silicone blob that doesn't block the flow of water along the keelson (don't want to block waters flow to bilge pump) anywhere forward of the motor should be fine. substance you place it in(silicone, mineral oil, ultrasound jelly, whatever) should be of consistent density and transducer carefully set in it without voids or air pockets:

Thanks,
I guess there is not a specific spot intended for shoot through. I will give it a go this weekend. |
Re: shoot thru transducer placement
Know it's angle (make sure it doesn't slide/tilt as adhesive sets), make it accessible, and avoid crossing its cable with other power cables to reduce electro-magnetic interference...

Re: shoot thru transducer placement
I installed a shoot hru in my 23 for my back up It is about 3' forward of the transom right next to the centerline. I cleaned it really good and used alot of silicone , made sure I left no air pockets, and smooshed the tansducer way down into it. Simple and easy and it works awesome at all speeds even in rough conditions.
