painting engine ???

I need to paint my 175 evinrude engine and was told to use awlcraft 2000. I went on a distributors website today and it states " above waterline only".

No problem unless you leave the boat in the water for more than a week.

I use Nasson Acrylic Car paint with a clear coat to paint lower units (excuse the grease smudges). I just saw the donzi sweet 16 that I mounted the Magnum III (really a 2.5L 200) and the lower unit and Mid-section (which originally were black) paint job still looks amazing after a season. That boat tops out at 73mph @ 6500rpm too.

I've had very good results, with Sunfire two part urethane from the automotive division of Sherwin Williams.
I painted a few aluminum boats with it,that stayed in the water for a few weeks at a time with no pitting or bubbles.

It's expensive,but is a beautiful finish,and is bullet proof.It's used on fleet trucks,and airplanes.

I got really good results from the regular old Tempo spray bombs on my lower units... Sand down, zinc chromate primer, color coat and then clear coat. Don't know if my finger would hold out long enough to spray and entire engine though...
