A freind of mine looked at my boat out of the water and commented, "...it looks kinda like a Silverhawk". So I stopped him after a little chuckle & explained about the 23SC a little and how so many boats have been copied off the SC hulls & the "VDH" design in general. That got me thinking just how many boats have copied them? So I just started to think off the top of my head of a list. I know there's more. Help me add to/edit it please, thanks!

There is at least one down in Austrailia, but I forget the brand name. Plus, F&S (?) Yacht out of Maryland or Delaware that builds BIG (40 to 60' +)sport fishing boats. They use the VDR hull design. I think Mako did a variation of a one step VDR hull vs. two on one of their earlier models as well, but don't crucify me on that one if I am wrong. Also, weren't the boats from China recently discussed by the guy from Austrailia on this site VDR's, too?

Let us not forget Mark Hauptner and my personal favorite,
Ocean Master. Mark told me the Ocean Skiff 27 touches 50 w/ a single E-Tec 250.

I never really looked at the bottom on an Oceanmaster. I always kinda thought of them as an "almost Rybo-Runner". I Used to fish a late 80's 31 every now and then. I didn't like how much water it pushed, solid boat though. It definitely didn't remind me of a SeaCraft but I'll have to look at one well next time I see one out of the water. BTW That 27 Ocean Skiff looks like a great formula for a great running boat.

A very good friend of mine has a 01 31 ocean master and his has no VDH. Very solid boat yes, rather wet though, and with two 250 Yami's its thirsty on gas and oil!

Those are kinda like a McKee...I had a 14' McKee when I was a teen with a 75...Wow what chine walk and fun!...Doesn't it go something like McKee was at Whaler then branched off then Henry'O was a Mckee who branched off?

Henry O. McKee was the founder of both companies McKee Craft and Henry O. McKee Craft was with a brother, Henry O with his sons.

He passed away in Sep 2006
