Hinges ?

It seems there have been butt hinges and strap hinges that have been used on CSC's. Seems like it corresponds with the different nonskid/patterning used on the hatches depending on the year. My year has the flush butt hinges and the longitudinal striped nonskid...Well correction, it did have the flush butt hinges slighlty recessed. There is not an originl hinge on this boat not to mentnion them not coming close with trying to go over the original holes and fit the inset in the hatches. I would also like to forget about the sea of flathead screws (could be worse they could be "hatteras" screws)holding them all down.

Anyone ever have success replacing the original hinges with new ones cleanly using the original layout? I really need to do all of them. Any perko...etc #'s, exact measurements, anything? Thanks

Re: Hinges ?

My boat (72' 20SF) has the originals and there are two sizes. Gemlux has some hinges which fit the original small ones exactly. The only difference was that the ones that were on the boat had edges that were more beveled than the Gemlux ones. The bigger gemlux hinges did not match the bigger hinges on the boat so I am not sure what people are using for those.
