1974 23 center console recessed bowrail
The 23 I'm currently restoring could use a new recessed rail as the aluminum one that is on it is quite faded and dull. Does anyone have any leads on where to find a replacement or am I going to be powdercoating it?
Thanks in advance. |

If you give us your location, that helps making recommendations.

A buddy of mine uses a product called Woody Wax.
I have not used it but it is supposed to work well. |

3M has a product that I have used on a tower once that came out good. Also Flitz works well.

Use some 3M rubbing compound followed up by either Flitz or woody wax.

I replaced mine with a new 1" piece of tubing and newer style fittings. I had my local aluminum fabricator bend me the tubing. I took him the old one to use as a pattern. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...th_5209002.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3.../122308001.jpg

Stoney,
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the fittigs and how much? I was looking for some like that and could not find them. Thanks BA |

They do not sell direct to the public. I got the idea looking at Chris Furnari's boat. I ended up buying them from Joe Muire
Contender Boats 1820 S.E 38 th Ave Homestead, FL 33035 Phone:305-230-1600 Hermco should be able to get them for you and he runs this forum. I bought them a couple years ago and I forgot the exact price but I think they were $160 for 13 pieces. Aluminum has gone up some since then. |
