Guys,

I'm wanting to install a Water Temp. Gauge. I've got a 225hp V-6 Yamaha (1989). See pictures below. It appears and I have read that Yamaha has conveinently put (2) bosses for future use one on top of each head. I just want to make sure these are the ones. Each head also appears to have a "thero-switch" that sents a signal regarding the temp to the control console / warning horn. I don't want to mess with those. I figure I should use the top "bosses" to put the sending unit(s) in. Then I will run dual wires up to the dash, then install a toggle switch before the gauge so I can monitor both cylinder banks independently.

What do you all think??? Does this seem correct??

Im not yamaha mech but lived in SC for years, is that snow in your splash well? Not trying to change subject and good luck with it!

That looks like the same place my water pressure gauge thermocouple was on 250 OX66

Well to answer my own question:

Yes, I have learned those are the "bosses" for either a Water Temp. Gauge or a Water Pressure Gauge. If you order from Teleflex, you will need a special adaptor to fit the Yamaha boss. The Yamaha motor uses a M14 metric sized port. The standard temp sender unit provided by Teleflex in the Water Temp. Gauge kit will not fit the Yamaha port. The special adaptor is Teleflex P/N 61886P.

FWIW, the Teleflex Water temp. gauge is a lot more detailed and much easier to read than the OEM Yamaha gauge.
