Question on hull scraping bunk trailer HELP

What is everyone doing about the keel of the boat scraping the cross brace on the trailer? Any input on this would be appreciated. it is a venture bunk trailer.

I'm no trailer expert, but I would think the bunks are low?

That's what it sounds like to me. My bunk trailer works fine - no scraping - about 5 inches of clearance as I load.

Is it just scraping the rear brace? I had to move my bunks farther back to keep it from happening. That fine entry SeaCraft bow doesn't let the bunks contact the hull soon enough. My trailer is actually better balanced this way also.

Don't know if this will help but I had the same problem with a pennyan I ran years back at two different ramps, one was too steep and the other too flat.

Re: Question on hull scraping bunk trailer HELP

Where is it scraping? Did it happen pre-doghouse (extra weight forward)? I have 12" keel rollers aft every cross-brace. I've also seen some Teflon caps that straddle the cross braces offering some protection. As previously mentioned, your bunks may be too low or you're not dipping the trailer deep enough. If the keel is hitting the forward cross braces you might try putting some tilted forward bunks in toward the center line to force the bow up.

Because of the riser brackets I used when I replaced my bunks, my bunks are now a bit (about 3/4") too high and I really have to get my truck tires closer to the water than I like. On some ramps I'm in the water.

Just raised my bunks 3" as it was scraping the front v guide. It is a 22 ft trailer and was never set up properly.
It`s been dogging me for 3 years , but I`m finally winning some battles.
Cheers,
GFS

I added multiple 12" Stoltz rollers. Mine was scraping also.

Thanks for all the input guys this is great. It is scraping the forward crossbrace. It always did this but since i did the pilothouse i have more weight up front so it is worse now.
