The mechanics, pump, etc in the galley seat were toast, I tore them out and the lower half of the sink and installed two storage areas and a hatch accessing the lower area, with a set of drawers for small parts. You can get to additional storage area through the forward side of the galley.

The ankle breaker step down between the seats is covered, with storage underneath, planning water. The wood is "Ipay", a South American hardwood that looks like teak, especially when it is weathered. Very pretty wood, but hard as diamonds, very hard to shape.

The Bimini was made longer and higher than the original. Thanks all for advice. Also the full enclosure was made in two sections for each side, front and back, to maximize flexibility for sun shade and ventilation. Its real nice to have just enough up in the afternoon cooking fish to keep the sun off, but not stop the breeze. The last enclosure pic shows the aft side panel with the screens open, also max ventilation with the bugs out.

Last pic is what a few places on the deck look like. The gel coat is completely gone. Looks for all the world like it was waxed so many times it wore through. Otherwise, the deck waxes up real nice. Still, it will be a lot better with an an allgrip job--- next year. Looks to me like the gelcoat on the hull itself is good for another 38 years.

Amazing condition!! Looks like shes ready for the Gulf. Wednesday and Thursday should be windy,15 - 20 out of the North; seas 4- 6, get out and bust that chop :D

Now for engine, new in 1998. The previous owner did not use it much, but sure kept it nice. Additions include battery switch for the kicker,(boy is that electric start nice) more guages, raw water pressure,fuel pressure, oil temp, and vacuum, extra, small size bilge pump as far aft and low as I could get it, additional racor fuel filter and valving to switch from one to the other while still underway. I remember when she was for sale. I think I told about a million people to buy it...quick! I'm glad she got into your hands. You're taking good care of her. :cool:

I've heard a few say they don't like the step down but I love it. I'd knock my head or scrape my back on the way in the cabin without it... plus I tend to like standing there while driving. I guess I wouldn't like it much if I broke my ankles but I have about 35 years in so far without doing so... :D What I don't like about the step down is the amount of time water takes to drain out of that area, through the 1' holes, into the bilge. It's hard to keep clean because the water sloshes back and forth, under the teak platforms, bringing the dirt that you cant clean out without taking the platforms out. I guess your platform is water tight and you wont have that problem...anyway it looks great!

Your top turned out sweet. I'm a big fan of the screens. We made a screen for the cabin hatch, cut to fit around the hatch supports, held on by velcro. It's great for if you are anchored or at night. Just a suggestion.

If you get a chance, could you post some more pics of your swim platform and how it is mounted. Thanks
