Re: hull identification number

Did you look on your title? Here in NJ the title has HIN # on the title,I believe most states are that way,

Re: hull identification number

I believe only Potter's boats used SEC as builder designation. But that being said, I have seen it written here that HIN were not required until 1972. But as Lou Reed said "don't believe half of what you read, and none of what you hear"

You might lift the cap trim above where HIN is regularly stamped and maybe find it handwritten around there. I have a 72 and there is only a foil plate with CG requirements - no hull stamp at all.

Also, registrations are only as accurate as the person who processed it, and as good as the handwriting of those that submitted the paperwork.

Builder code on my Seavette was listed incorrectly on the previous title and registration, and so was the HIN - fourth digit being a "U" rather than a "V" for Vette. They corrected the HIN on my new title but not the builder code... Good luck

Re: hull identification number

thanks,I guess it doesn't really matter it had seacraft decals on it and the hull is identical to my master angler except the angler has higher gunnels and a different layout, the ga dnr has allready issued a new hin the ma hin does start with sec.
