Wish I had that problem. Its more like a Garlington than a Jim Smith, has Garlington lines, flare, and air sept.

thats the newer style house , the older style Jim Smith's were lower slung and much narrower porportionately, still one of the best of the best...it's funny cause I think the last true "Jim Smith" built boat was the Smith 57' fairly early on, there were only a handful... i believe the early Montereys they pulled lines from those boats..I dunno I'd have to ask my buddy he spent a lot of time with Mr. Smith.

Have not viewed the post, but most Jim Smiths did not have the nice round tumble-home. They were reverse. I remember the Jack of Hearts from Hatteras. That was an original Smith very fast, originally had 8V-92's and was repowered with Manns. This was back in the early 80's.
I'd definitely consider a Spencer or Bayliss if I could put a boat that big in my yard. One of the prettiest was the old Sportsman Brothers Pride now called Barbara B.

Tribute was started by Hank Manley I believe, "Escapade" was his, "Speed Merchant" was another popular one I believe "Tribute" to Jim Smith is the meaning of the name. The first couple were spartan no non-sense hot-rods and looked like they were doing 50 at the dock and did do about 50.

I actually out ran the Speed Merchant one year on the way to Paradise Island from Abaco during the BBC, only because they were limping along on one engine! Have not seen it in a while, dont even know if its still around, but that was a fast boat, we'd cruise @ 27 knots, comming in on the flats, it would pass us like we were sitting still. Pretty awesome.
